City's record signing enjoyed another successful return to The Britannia Stadium last night to face his former employers.

Last season Cardiff won 3 - 2 with Thorne getting a hat-trick. Last night Thorne set up both goals for Cameron Jerome and then helped himself to a penalty that brought up his 50th City goal and secured a vital win for the Bluebirds.

"It really was a cracking win to come here and bounce back from not beating Plymouth on Saturday," Thorne told the BBC.

"We showed strength of character to get the three points we desperately need. We started well, got the goal and it really was a shame to let them back in it.

"But we were the better team and we deserved the points. The win was massive, it really was massive, and when I looked around the changing room I could see that everyone was ready for this - there was a spring in the step and everybody was up for it."

Next up it's Wigan. Thorne will play against his former team mate at Stoke and at Cardiff, Graham Kavanagh. The former City skipper arrives at Ninian Park this Saturday with his new team who have lost their last two games.
