Middlesbrough's 90th minute winner at Bristol City saw them jump above Cardiff into 2nd place with Leeds going level with City after they beat MIllwall.
The good news came right at the top. Both Southampton (at Doncaster) and West Ham (at home to Burnley) both lost.
Cardiff have a chance today to get third place back if they get at least a draw and a win over Birmingham would mean just three points behind an automatic promotion place.
