Cardiff v Leeds. Match preview

A large crowd is expected with fans coming to pay tribute to former boss Eddie May who died last weekend. There will be a minutes applause before the game which will be attended by Eddie's family.

Leeds come to Cardiff City Stadium hoping to spoil City's play off party. Utd haven't beaten Cardiff in any of the last 12 meetings between the teams. That includes the 2002 FA Cup match and a four nil hammering by City at Elland Rd last season.

The point is not lost on one Leeds blogger who writes Into The Valleys: All Leeds United Have Left Is Ruining Cardiff’s Party.

I would expect Malky to keep the same side that beat Derby in midweek. The boss is keeping his mind firmly on the job of getting into the play offs.

“There’s no one in the club though thinking the job is done," said Mackay. "Everything is focussed on winning the Leeds game.

“I want to get over the line first off so let’s just focus on beating Leeds.”

Victory for Cardiff today will guarantee a top 6 finish. A draw or even a defeat could still be enough by this evening depending on what happens to Hull and Middlesbrough.

But the best way to ensure a play off place would be to win it ourselves in front of our own fans.
