Cardiff v Preston. Match preview

McPhail's sending off against Swansea has been well documented and he misses the game against preston tomorrow and the trip to Burnley on Tuesday.

Gavin Rae, dropped last Sunday is expected to start with Joe Ledley in central midfield. Ropss McCormack, left and Wayne Routledge, right, will complete the midfield.

There was an injury scare over Michael Chopra but after a visit to Sunderland to report his his club doctor he's now back. Although he did not train on Friday through illness. Dave Jones is unable to confirm if he will be fit to play.

Darren Purse was omitted from the matchday squad last week without any reason. So it's likely there'll be no change in the starting line up with McNaughton, Gyepes, Johnson and Kennedy starting the game. We have to wait to see if Purse is on the bench. Eddie Johnson, who missed last Sunday's squad through a foot injury, is fit and could be on the bench.

It's a tough looking game tomorrow with Preston in 6th, Cardiff are 7th. With November being a struggle for City with just 5 points taken from 18 available it's been a better month for Preston who collected 11 points with 3 wins and 2 draws.

Last weekend saw Prerston beat Bristol City and then draw Liverpool in the FA Cup so they come to Ninian park high on confidence and with things looking good. City will have to bring them back down to earth.

Preston manager Alan Irvine will assess striker Neil Mellor closer to kick-off ahead of the trip.

The former Liverpool forward was forced off after just 24 minutes during last weekend's 2-0 victory over Bristol City at Deepdale.

Mellor jarred his hip and also suffered a bruised shin, forcing him onto the sidelines this week but he is expected to train on

Friday when Irvine will make his decision.

Irvine has no other immediate concerns as his in-form side seek to extend their five-match unbeaten run and enhance their promotion credentials.

Central defenders Liam Chilvers (hamstring) and Neal Trotman (hernia), full-back Michael Hart (ankle) and goalkeeper Wayne Henderson (back) are edging closer to first-team returns but are not yet considered ready for selection.
