The Canadian has been on trial at Cardiff for several weeks and was officially announced just a couple of hours before the Burton game and went on to play the full 120 minutes.

The lad was injured after City had used all three subs but managed to soldier on and make sure City kept 11 players on the pitch.

Little is known about Martin John other than he played for University of Buffalo and University of Maine. He is 22 and holds a Bristish passport. He will wear shirt no. 26.

He was an unused sub when City played Deportivo last Saturday week.

"It's great to sign for Cardiff City, the facilities here are fantastic," said John. "Everything about this club is set up for us to be a Premier League side."

Welcome to Cardiff City.
