Bruno Manga watched from the sidelines as injury kept him out of Gabon's African Cup of Nations qualifiers this past week.
A 0 - 0 draw with Angola on Saturday confirmed Gabon's place in the finals to be held in Equatorial Guinea between January 17th and February 8th, 2015.
Gabon beat Lesotho 4 - 2 yesterday to complete the campaign.
Manga travelled to Africa last week but didn't play in either game after suffering a calf injury in City's defeat at Bolton a few weeks ago.
Until then the 26 year old had been City's most consistent performer this season. His absence in the new year will be a blow to Cardiff.
He will be assessed by City's medical staff ahead of Friday's home game against Reading.
