Earnie speculation mounting as D Day nears

If Earnie is still a City player when we wake up next Wednesday morning then all the rumour and speculation will have been unfounded.

There is a growing bandwagon at the moment though that seriously links Robert Earnshaw with WBA. The loose link has been there for a while, Sean Gregan's possible move to Cardiff is involved. The truth has never come out about exactly what's going on but as deadline day approaches answers will have to be given.

The National press seem quite happy that a cash plus Gregan deal is likely. Then on Thursday night the local HTV "soccer" programme alluded to Earnie having negotiations with the Baggies.

Lennie Lawrence gave middle of the road answers to the press on Thursday

"I'm happy the affair is coming to a conclusion," Lawrence told the BBC

"If he goes, he goes. If he stays, he really needs to get his head down and put it all out of the way."

That's very open ended. The gossip is a deal for between £2.5m and £3.5m in cash plus Sean Gregan.

Maybe more will follow later today. We will certainly know with a few days.

If nothing changes Earnie will of course be in the side to face Stoke tomorrow and Wigan on Monday.
