FT Forest 1 - 2 Cardiff. City end with victory

Goals from Joe Ralls and Eoin Doyle helped secure a last day victory for Cardiff at Nottingham Forest.

Dexter Blackstock caused a late scare with a goal in injury time but Cardiff saw the game out with ten men.

14 minutes from time David Marshall was sent off for violent conduct when he appeared to head-butt Jamaal Lascelles

City welcomed Ben Turner (pictured below) back into the side for the first time since January after an injury lay off that threatened to end his season. Turner replaced Player of the Year Bruno Manga who was not in the matchday squad.

Joe Ralls volleyed City into a 14th minute lead and ten minutes later Eoin Doyle scored his fifth of the season to make it 2 - 0.

After Marshall's sending off the ten men conceded in the 91st minute when Dexter Blackstock slammed the ball past Simon Moore to make it 2 - 1.

Forest went looking for the equaliser but their efforts were tame and City took three points to finish 11th in the Championship table.

So that's it for another season. Mid table is disappointing after relegation last season but it could have been worse. An excellent run away from home since January pulled in the points that kept City away from the relegation zone. Home form was relegation form with City picking up just three league wins at CCS since November.
