Jones has to get on with it as FL row erupts

Speaking to the official website Jones got realistic about the situation he finds himself in.

"There are one or two other things that we`re looking at and things we`re trying to do but we`ve got to get the embargo lifted off us - and if it doesn`t then we have to go with what we`ve got. We`ve got to be ready whatever happens.

"We can`t hold up the start of the campaign and I know that behind the scenes they`re working hard for it to happen, while I`m trying to get players in as well.

"But when you go down the loan system, which we have to do at the moment, other teams aren`t going to let players out until they know what they are going to do. In some case we might have to wait until they`ve picked their 25 but there`s no point in sulking about it, you`ve just got to get on with it."

Jones though has since had a pop at the Football League claiming one rule for one and a different rule for another. Jones was speaking about Portsmouth who, despite a much bigger debt, are allowed to trade.

"How can Portsmouth be in five times the amount we are in debt and be allowed to trade? I feel it's wrong," said Jones.
But the Football League has defended themselves. Portsmouth are allowed to bring in players if their squad drops below 20 because their Administrators are giving assurances about the finances.

"We are applying the rules which have already been agreed by all clubs who are members of the Football League," said a FL spokesman. "These rules are applied equally and fairly to all clubs right across the board."

Cardiff open the new Championship season this Sunday at home to Sheffield Utd. Unless things change Jones will have last years squad less the players that have left and that's it.
