Jones says clubs are being punished by an unjust rule

Simon Walton was sent off after two yellow cards against Leeds on Saturday.

Jones says the referee was wrong to give the second yellow card and wants clubs to be able to appeal against such decisions as they would for a red card.

"It's crazy and the rule is wrong. I think I have the backing of every manager, coach and referee that it can't be right," Jones told BBC Sport.

Walton was sent off in the closing stages of Cardiff's 1-0 win over Leeds at Ninian Park.

I want to hear why this rule stands because it can't be right

The midfielder received a second yellow card after referee Mark Clattenburg judged he had dived, but television replays clearly show he fell after a tangle of legs.

"Nobody's given me an explanation yet - nobody's written to me to say 'we got it wrong' or 'we got it right'," Jones added.

"The FAW says it's a rule so that makes it right. Well, it doesn't. You've only got to look at the video evidence to say it can't be right.

"I hope now we will bring this to the forefront, not just for us because it's too late, we've been punished.

"But if we can make a bit of noise, then maybe they will look at it and say 'right we can't say we can't rescind it because it's a wrong decision'.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to help other clubs. It won't help me or the player because he'll miss two games.

"Nearly a week has gone by and I still haven't heard anything [from the FAW]. It's too long - we should have heard from them in the next two days after the game.

"I should also have had the ban withdrawn and had my player for the game against West Brom last Tuesday and for Preston on Friday.

"He's already been punished by being sent off. How do you punish someone again when he's not done anything wrong?

"I want to hear why this rule stands because it can't be right."
