Langley spitting claim

'I'm shocked and disappointed that I was spat at by some of the Cardiff fans,' Langley told the Echo.

'I don't deserve that kind of treatment. I played for Cardiff for two seasons and gave my best and worked hard. 'I didn't choose to leave Cardiff - in fact I enjoyed my time there. I still have a lot of good Welsh friends.

'But to be spat at when I was getting the ball underneath the Cardiff fans was a poor act. To be honest I didn't know what to expect.

Langley took some verbal stick from City fans who chanted against him and boo'd him. I didn't see any spitting. If it did happen then those who did it should be ashamed of themselves. I didn't approve of the jeering but if anyone spat it's disgusting.

Langley's parents were watching the game from the stand, just as they did with all the City games he played. They always watched amongst City fans and they would have been upset at the stick he was getting.

The other City old boy, Gareth Ainsworth was cheered when he came on as a sub for Q.P.R. and his name was sung out? Why not for Langley. He might not have pulled up trees for us but he didn't deserve the abuse.

One player that always deserves it though is Mark Bircham. It was great to hear the fans sing "we saw you cry on TV" in reference to the play off final.

I say this about Bircham with grudging respect. I don't particularly like him but I credit him for the way he can give as good as he gets with the fans. I think it was his blue hair that put me off him in the play off final and of course when he kicked Kav when Ireland played Canada, the City skipper was out for a while injured after that.
