Le Fondre happy to be upfront and scoring

C:WindowsTempphp5724.tmpAdam Le Fondre has started the last two games as a striker alongside Fedrico Macheda and as well as winning both matches the former Reading player picked up his first goal.

Playing now in his favoured position le Fondre looks back at the opening couple of months under Solskjaer.

“When Ole was in charge he probably tried to over-complicate things for the Championship, which is a basic league,” says Le Fondre.

“In this division there is a need to work hard, out-battle the other team and earn the right to play. We worked hard over our last two matches and against Ipswich came out firing in the second half, got our luck and came out winners.

“We have a top-quality squad and there isn’t any need to complicate things. It was the right move by our new manager for a return to basics. We each know our jobs and the player next to us knows exactly what they are doing. That is the right way forward.”

“Clearly, when I signed, my ambition was to play up front for Cardiff,” said Le Fondre. “The fans wanted to see me there and I’m sure Ole wanted to play me up front. I don’t know what transpired but I wasn’t selected in attack.

“There were times, when I was playing out of position and not being selected, when I started to doubt myself and that took away my confidence a little. I wasn’t getting chances when I did play and didn’t put myself in the positions to score often enough.

“Now I’m playing up front under the new gaffer and showing why I should be there. I hope to be given a run of matches because I know I will score goals.

“It was a scrappy goal against Ipswich, but I don’t care how the ball goes in. That’s what I am all about.

“That goal meant such a lot to me – and that showed in my celebration. I’m like a little kid because I love playing and scoring goals. Kiko (Macheda) and I are bringing the best out in each other.

“I hope this is the start of my scoring spree. One down – 19 to go!”
