Ledley set to miss rest of season

Ledley has played on for several months while not being 100% fit. It's a similar problem to ones suffered recently by Warren Feeney and Roger Johnson.

"A date is set for Joe's operation. It will be before the end of January." Dave Jones said ahead of today's trip to Scunthorpe.

"Joe will have an operation on one hip and then they'll be a 10 to 14 days break before surgery on the other.

"Joe has to have surgery on both. He is 22 and when you look at his age and the games he's played, that's a lot of games, so he's best to get it sorted and get back as quickly as possible."

The surgery will mean a premature end to Joe's season and potentially his City career. The local boy is out of contract this summer and while Cardiff would get compensation becuase of his age if he went to another Premier League / Championship club Jones is keen to get him to sign a new deal at Cardiff City.

"We still want Joe to sign a new contract and stay with this club."

Ledley wil play today against Scunthorpe and on Tuesday against Bristol City in the FA Cup. If we get through that match we face Leciester next Saturday so he may be called upon for that game. Time will come pretty soon though for Joe to go in to get the hip problems sorted.
