"I'm gutted. I haven't been in the squad for two years and I was looking forward to it," said McNaughton.
"So I just hope I can get back playing quickly and that I will be considered by Scotland the next time around."
It's unknown yet if the two week break from league action will be enough time to get the full back fit for City's trip to Crystal Palace.
