Millwall v City early team news

illwall will again be without Therry Racon and David Forde when they host Cardiff.

Midfielder Racon has this week seen a specialist about the ankle problem which has restricted him to just one appearance since he joined from Charlton over the summer.

Goalkeeper Forde remains sidelined by a thigh injury so Steve Mildenhall continues between the sticks, although the Lions' number one could be fit in time to face Portsmouth on Boxing Day.

Boss Kenny Jackett may, therefore, stick with the side which held Leeds for an hour last weekend before slipping to a 2-0 defeat.

Defender Jordan Stewart is still out with a groin problem and striker Shaun Batt continues to build up his fitness following a cruciate injury.

Manager Malky Mackay is sweating over the fitness of three midfielders ahead of Cardiff's trip to Millwall.

Aron Gunnarsson, Filip Kiss and Stephen McPhail are all injury doubts for the Bluebirds. Gunnarsson (dead leg) and Kiss (ankle) were both withdrawn after sustaining knocks in the Championship victory over Birmingham on Sunday while McPhail tweaked his knee in training before the clash with Blues.

All three will be assessed prior to the game at the New Den and, although McPhail is unlikely to be fit, Mackay is hopeful he will be able to include Kiss and Gunnarsson in his matchday squad.

Centre-back Anthony Gerrard is definitely out of the contest, however, having picked up a hamstring problem on Sunday and club captain Mark Hudson is in line to return in the middle of defence alongside Ben Turner.

Full-back Andrew Taylor is fit again after a tight calf kept him out of the victory over Birmingham, and he will face stiff competition to win back his place from Lee Naylor - who filled in with aplomb at the weekend.

Striker Rudy Gestede is available to Mackay following his six-week absence with a hamstring complaint, but he is likely to have to settle for a place among the substitutes.
