Parkin leading the way as likely first signing

Parkin currently plays for Preston but his name has been loosely linked with City before. Steve Howard from Leicester was another 'lump' of a frontman attracting interest from City but it's though Howard's demands of a 2 year contract (he's 33 already) was too much so City have focussed on Parkin.

He's a big lad but a persistent threat in front of goal and in no way could replace the likes of Chopra for speed or Bothroyd for ability but would offer another dimension in attack and I think could get some goals.

Another name that surfaced yesterday was Andy O'Brien who is currently on loan from Bolton at Leeds. Bolton are reported to have given permission for O'Brien to speak to Cardiff and there were claims he was spotted in Cardiff with Dave Jones.

It's already been reported that City are trying to tie up a deal for James Vaughan and I have some more names for you.

Wayne Routledge is strongly linked and so is Barnsley's Adam Hammill. There also seems to be some truth in the links to Jonathan Woodgate.

Dave Jones this week has said he is looking at up to 5 players. He doesn't want to lose any players but won't rule out departures.

When asked directly this morning about Andy O'Brien he refused to name names of any players.

With the window opening tomorrow we may not have to wait too long to find out.
