Sam promises new signings

CARDIFF CITY supremo Sam Hammam last night promised to sign at least four new players in time for the big Coca-Cola Championship kick-off on August 7.

The Bluebirds' outspoken owner has set his sights on a play-off finish next season - and has promised manager Lennie Lawrence the funds to bring in as many as six new signings.

Hammam - who said he was happy with City's 2004-05 fixture list which was published yesterday - was disappointed with last season's 13th-placed finish.

He wants a more convincing play-off push next season and is prepared to shake up the dressing room to achieve that aim.

The only fresh face at Ninian Park since the 2003-04 season ended is 16-year-old goalkeeper Scott Allison, from York.

But Hammam said, "I expect us to sign four, five or maybe six players during the summer.
