Travel Group Meeting Summary

Outgoing Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins opened the meeting by saying a few words of thanks to those present for their co-operation during his eighteen months in the job. Director Alan Whiteley will apparently be taking on some of the Chief Executive's duties in the immediate future, although he sounds a somewhat reluctant replacement and his appointment is likely to be on a temporary basis.

Details of the arrangements for the forthcoming trip to Leeds United were finalised very shortly before the meeting. Travelling City fans will be required to attend Woolley Edge Services between 10:45am and 11:30am on the morning of the match for the planned voucher exchange. Tickets have yet to go on sale but all the indications are that the extortionate prices (£36 for adults and a minimum of £25 for concessions) have put many regular away supporters off. The club will be given 1,000 tickets but less than 500 Bluebirds are expected to make the long journey north.

Birmingham fans are likely to travel to Cardiff on 3 December with no restrictions on the clear understanding that City fans will be able to do likewise when the sides meet at St Andrews in March. Cardiff officials have written to their Birmingham counterparts and stated that they will not support any kind of travel restrictions for City fans. These arrangements are not yet set in stone, but it looks promising provided there are no major problems involving supporters of either club between now and then.

There are unlikely to be any sort of travel restrictions for the game at Millwall in December, as was the case last season. Meanwhile, the game at Bristol City in March is likely to be a voucher exchange, which will be the first time the fixture hasn't been a full bubble trip for Cardiff supporters for many years.

The arrest figures for City games so far this season are excellent. Just two arrests have been made at the eight league and cup games staged at the Cardiff City Stadium. One was a Cardiff fan who was arrested following an assault on a Bristol supporter in a well-publicised incident on Sloper Road in August, while the other was a Brighton fan who was apparently detained after attempting to steal his friend's wallet inside the ground. Seven City fans have been arrested for minor offences at away games, most of which have involved excess alcohol (0 at West Ham, 1 at Oxford, 2 at Burnley, 1 at Portsmouth, 2 at Blackpool, 1 at Hull and 0 at Peterborough).
