BB-M 'we didn't defend well enough at all as a team'

Words from the manager after a ding dong battle at Bloomfield Rd but one in which Cardiff were lacking in both areas.

"It's a very disappointing result for us, obviously." said Murphy. "We would have liked to do a lot better in a lot of the game.

"We created a lot of chances throughout the course of the game. But, the way that we play and the way that we attack so much is not an excuse for us to defend the moments that we had to defend in the manner we did. We want to be as disciplined a team in defence as we are in attack, and today we weren't.

"The opening stages of the game, it was end to end. Blackpool came really aggressive, the atmosphere was hot in that moment. We weathered the storm, dominated the first half completely, created multiple chances but didn't take them, and we weren't good enough in our finishing actions.

"Like I said, throughout the course of the second half we still had chances, but we didn't defend well enough at all as a team. I think you saw us become a little bit ragged in the later stages of the game, giving away needless free-kicks and not choose the right option, which we did in the final action to score a goal, so there's a lesson for us there."

It's the third Saturday in a row Cardiff have lost on the road. Thankfully the traveling fans saw victory at Wrexham the other week. Murphy expressed his disappointment for the ones that went to Blackpool.

"Today wasn't good enough, and we have to swallow that, accept it, feel the pain of it, and come back stronger and do better.

"We have to stay disciplined throughout the course of the game. If the score says at 2-0 and we score that goal, we have the chance to salvage an equaliser. But to give away the third goal in the manner that we did is a real lesson. It's important we learn that lesson very quickly.

"You have to feel disappointed for so many of our supporters who came in such numbers and backed us throughout. Our support throughout the course of the game was exceptional. I'm just very disappointed we couldn't give them the result they wanted."
