£6m not enough to temp City into selling Joe

"We have been offered £6m for Joe Ledley which we have rejected," said Chairman Peter Ridsdale.

"The explanation I gave him is that not only am I trying to build a world class stadium, but I'm trying to build a team to get into the Premier League - and that means keeping our best players.

"I have no question about his commitment, attitude, skill and ability and that is why he has attracted a bid of that quantum.

"That is why we want to keep him at Cardiff City and I'm sure our fans will be delighted too."

Leldey is with the Welsh squad ahead of the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers. It's unsure how mush interest Ledley had in the Stoke offer but the club have stood firm.

"We have informed Joe that he has no authority to speak to anybody," Ridsdale told BBC Sport.

City have already sold Aaron Ramsey and Glenn Loovens this summer. Last week a £5m bid for Ledley was turned down and also a £4m buid for Roger Johnson was reportedly rebuffed as well from West Brom.

After seeing Earnie, Jerome, Chopra, Gunter, Ramsey etc all sold for cash with ambition thrown by the wayside it's refreshing to see the club hang onto it's best talent and it sets down a marker that we don't always have to sell.
