Another great set of results on Saturday

Last updated : 22 February 2009 By Michael Morris
Of course leaders Wolves face Cardiff today but at start of play yesterday the top sides who did play bottled it again.

2nd placed Birmingham lost at Coventry. 3rd placed Reading lost at home to Bristol City. 4th placed Preston were thumped 3 - 1 at Southampton. 6th placed Sheff Utd only drew at Plymouth and 7th placed Burnley also drew at Norwich.

The days winners were Bristol City, Swansea and Ipswich. The top 10 have now passed 50 points with City in 8th place on 51. Bristol City in 4th are on 53. It's the games in hand though that City must look at. It's all ifs and buts of course, City though could go top if they won the games in hand. We are not chasing the play offs, but automatic promotion.

A win at Wolves today would send City 4th, still with games in hand on all the teams around us. Let's see what today brings but a continuation of City's decent league form could edge the club closer to the automatic promotion places.
