Another keeper linked then denied zzzzzzzzzz

The 26 year old is out of contract at Dunfermline.

He has been to Swansea to meet Roberto Martinez, ''Dorus has been down to have a look at Swansea,'' he said.

Fair play, he's a genuine target for the Swans. The local paper are right to report that. Then they mention Cardiff could be one of a number of clubs interested in the player. No source, no comment just pure speculation.

Not enough to warrant the headline of "CARDIFF CHASING DE VRIES" that topped the article.

Then as if that wasn't bad enough the Western Mail on Wednesday morning lead with

"CARDIFF CITY are hoping to scupper Swansea City's hopes of signing highly-rated Dutch goalkeeper Dorus De Vries."

All based on nothing.

Just a few hours later we have the Western Mail's sister paper, The Echo, quoting Peter Ridsdale who says

"I'm sorry, but I genuinely haven't heard the name before."

"We have talked about a lot of goalkeepers over the summer, but that name has never cropped up.

"The suggestion we are even interested in him, never mind in a battle with someone else to sign him, well, it's way off target."

I appreciate the goalkeepeing situation is getting a bit desperate at Ninian Park with only one senior keeper on the books but some of the reporting is laughable.

Of course if we do actually sign De Vries I'll allow the South Wales Evening Post and the Western Mail to lock me in the stocks and throw wet sponges at me.
