Are you winding me up? Not any more

You'll remember a month ago all hell let loose when it was revealed that HMRC were trying to have the club wound up for failure to pay it's taxes. That issue got messy with Peter Ridsdale falling out with the Echo for publishing a story that was in the public domain.

At the time it was explained that a deal had been cut with the Revenue and all was ok. Then bang, this week City's name was on the list again but it turns out it was a formality to have the winding up order struck off.

A statement on Cardiff's official website said: "We can confirm that the High Court today formally dismissed the winding-up order that had previously been brought by HMRC.

"This was as a result of amicable discussions between the club and HMRC. We are grateful for their cooperation and support."

Peter Ridsdale is now looking forward to pushing forward now this matter is sorted out.

"We were disappointed in the first instance, but this puts any doubts that anybody had about the future of the club behind us," he said last night. "We are delighted this has been sorted out.

"We can now get on with what we are trying to do, which is get this club promoted. It's also good that we can reassure supporters who may not know the ins and outs of these situations."
