Cardiff City's new stadium project took a step nearer today with the news that ASDA have joined COSTCO as an anchor tennant on the Leckwith site.

The supermarket giant will take up 92,000 sq ft of retailing space and added to the 135,000 sq ft taken by Costco over half of the 438,000 sq ft has now been taken up.

The club still have to provide a viable business plan to the council but Mr Paul Guy of the developers Capital and Regional is confident the club will finalise a plan that will be acceptable to the council.

"This is fantastic news for the club and in particularly our many thousands of supporters," said owner Sam Hammam.

"They have gone through a difficult and uncertain period and we have had their full support in driving forward our plan of the new stadium."
