Barnsley Blues

Bogdanovich scores
Saturday morning and I was oozing with confidence that a home banker was on the cards. Two Daniel Bogdanovic strikes just three minutes apart soon brought me down to earth with a bump.

The City centre halves twice allowed the Barnsley striker to waltz through on goal and twice he took full advantage. After that City huffed and puffed but on a bobbly struggling pitch failed to put in place their usual flowing game and no matter what they tried it just wasn't going to be their day.

Earlier, just 2 mins into the game and Chopra skied one over whilst inside the 6 yard box. That could have been the start of something but like the rest of the game there were near misses, the woodwork and a resolute Barnsley who stuck to their task and snuffed out City's attacks. They closed down quickly leaving a frustrated set of Bluebirds.

I left the ground disappointed and feeling like we didn't do enough. I thought we were lethargic at times. If you look at it another way and see the stats we created numerous chances and on another day with the rub of the green could have won at a canter.

I think it has to be chalked down as one of those games, like the Q.P.R. and Palace games earlier in the season. Just not our day. We are still 5th, a couple of points and a couple if games in hand over the chasing teams.

There's no midweek action so a chance for those players carrying knocks to recover before Saturday's trip to Preston. Time to put right the 6 - 0 drubbing we got there last season.
