The Mick McCarthy era starts at Oakwell tonight as the new City boss faces his hometwon club. I can't see their being too many changes to the faces in the City line up tonight but maybe there will be a change of style and hopefully some more effort and desire from the squad that as Sean Morrison says became 'too inconsistent' and cost Neil Harris his job.

The game is not live on Sky or the Red Button but Cardiff City will be streaming the game live on their website and match passes for those viewing in the UK can be bought here for £10.

Mick McCarthy: "The Barnsley game is going to be a real test for us and I’m going to know a lot more on Wednesday night/Thursday morning, but I think we’ve got a strong squad, to be honest.

Valerien Ismael:It will be a fight; it will be about the set-pieces and it will be about the second balls. It will be about the desire to win the duels and win the game, so we have to prepare the guys.

“It will be a completely different game than against Norwich but we have shown in the past that we can compete at this level, we are more adaptable and we will be ready for the fight.

“We are on the right way after Norwich. We created a lot of chances and found a way to work with the guys to put pressure on the box and to create more chances to score more goals.”
