Like Cardiff they were forced into issuing a statement after Jerome's agent revealed a fee had been agreed. That fee is reported to be £3m down with two more payments of £500k depending on appearances and success.

The statement from Birmingham City reads

Birmingham City Football Club would like to make known its policy relating to player transfers and signings.

It is no longer the Club's intention to release any information on interest in or negotiations for prospective player signings until agreements have been fully concluded.

However, following recent press speculation, and confirmation by the player's agent, the Club would like to share with its supporters that terms have been agreed with Cardiff City for Cameron Jerome.

Karren Brady met with the player's agent last night and they have now agreed terms.

Jerome will be flying back from Miami early next week.

Jerome is said to have agreed terms in a phone call from Florida and he will now return home to have a medical and sign for the Blues.

Former Birmingham defender and now City skipper, Darren Purse, has been speaking to the Midlands press about Jerome.

"Cam has loads of pace and score goals, he's a good player," said Purse. "At the moment, he probably needs two or three chances to nick a goal, you wouldn't say he's prolific. But he has shown he can score in the Championship and he's still young, so he has potential to improve."

"If he goes in behind onto things, then he cruficies teams," said Purse. "He works the channels really well and if that's what Birmingham are looking for someone to do, then he's right for them.

"He's got goals in him and the reason Birmingham were relegated, basically, was because they didn't score enough.
