Before kick off the crowd gave a rousing minutes applause to football legend Sir Tom Finney who passed away on Friday.

Wigan took the lead through Chris McCann before Fraizer Campbell equalised.

Campbell headed over before Ben Watson scored with a 30 yard drive after new signing Juan Cala was penalised for a foul.

Cardiff huffed and puffed in the second half but were low on confidence, lacking in quality and unable to cause any trouble to Championship side.

So now it's back to League action and a final 12 game run-in to try to ensure Premier League survival.

Full thoughts on Wigan game to follow.
