The Scottish club have issued a statement on their website today saying "In light of media reports today, Rangers Football Club can confirm we have received a bid for striker Kris Boyd which was rejected."

That bid is thought to be £2.5m from Cardiff City for the Scottish striker that Jones has tried previously to sign.

Incredibly Scottish paper The Evening Times are claiming that City could be prepared to up their offer to £3.5m.

Boyd scored twice in Rangers Scottish Cup Final victory and ended last season with 25 goals from 23 starts but Rangers now have a surplus of strikers with Walter Smith signing three already this summer.
