Bluebirds second best at Liberty

But Cardiff came back, Jay Bothroyd broke free to score with a coolly taken finish and then Mark Hudson popped up at the back post to head in from a tight angle. The goals just 2 mins 18 seconds apart.

So 2 - 2 at half time and Cardiff were right back in the match.

The defending for both Swansea goals in the opening period was poor with both goals coming from crosses and it was a cross that earned Swansea's win in the second half. A lovely volley from Darren Pratley but where were the defenders?

Before Pratley's 61st minute winner Ross McCormack thumped a free kick against the bar, if that had gone in I still felt Swansea might have come back, we know Cardiff struggle to hold a lead (Sheff Utd - barely held on. Forest we conceded in injury time) but when Swansea went ahead Cardiff just didn't pose the same threat and it was no surprise (to me anyway) that we were unable to get another goal.

Swansea scurried, closed down and were quick to break but when Cardiff had the ball, we looked composed and relaxed and just unlikely to win a fight and in the end so it proved that we beaten by the team that fought hardest on the day in what they see as their cup final. I wish we had the same level of desire.

We look nice when we play but sometimes that's not enough and endeavour, effort and hard work won the game for Swansea today.

It was a cracking game for the neutral. Nervy as hell for the fans but overall a great spectacle. Both sides had proper claims for a penalty turned away. Swansea from Huson's handball in the first half and Cardiff when an elbow to the back felled a City player late in the game.

Bragging rights for Swansea, no complaints about that. They did what they had to to win the match.

For the second week in a row City have failed to take top spot when it was offered to them. A two week break now before City face Barnsley away.
