The Western Mail ran an article on Wednesday morning claim that Cardiff Blues and Jona Lomu would attract the bigger crowd than the Bluebirds this Saturday when both clubs kick off in the City at 3:00pm.

Sam Hammam then fired back in Thursday's papers with salvo's in the Western Mail and Echo. With talk in the Echo saying that City have already sold more tickets than the Arms Park capacity is it then 1 - 0 to the Bluebirds before the games kick off?

Who'll prove Cardiff's capital team?

Who do you go and watch in the Welsh capital if you are a sports fan?Clearly Ninian Park stalwarts will support their team on Saturday, while Arms Park regulars won't go anywhere near the soccer.

But what about the thousands of floating fans who like to go and watch a sporting success story?

Forget Dave Jones' team and go to the Arms Park on Saturday, I urge them, and I will tell you why.

Hammam: We're No'1 team in Cardiff

CARDIFF CITY chief Sam Hammam last night declared his Bluebirds were easily the No1 team in the Welsh capital and comparisons with Jonah Lomu's Cardiff Blues were wrong.

Hammam gave his verdict after reading a two-page article in yesterday's Western Mail highlighting this weekend's tug-of-war between the two teams over fans for crunch games which clash.

Hammam slams 'infantile' Blues comparisons

Sam Hammam today declared Cardiff City number one in Wales - and condemned the 'infantile logic' of comparisons with Cardiff Blues.

The Bluebirds and Cardiff Blues, who entertain Derby County and Calvisano respectively, go head-to-head at 3pm on Saturday.

The Jonah Lomu factor is expected to spark a 12,500 sell-out for the rugby region, effectively making them a threat to the Ninian Park gate for the first time.

But Hammam and City claim the argument over who will attract the bigger attendance is already won - they have already sold 13,000 tickets for the Coca-Cola Championship clash with Derby.
