Blue-Bottlers

But just 15 days later it's all gone wrong.

The 6 - 0 defeat at Preston was worth a 12 goal swing to the Lancastrians and then City's 3 - 0 home reverse against Ipswich brought Preston a glimmer of hope of catching City after they beat Birmingham last week.

When it came for Cardiff to stand and be counted today they went missing. For the 4th game in a row they bottled it. Only 2 points in those 4 games would have secured a play off spot. Not conceeding so many goals would have done it as well

Preson have pulled off an achievement that a Roy of the Rovers comic would find hard to script.

City have missed out because Preston scored one more goal than the Bluebirds, the points total and goal difference was the same.

The last 4 games have been dreadful for Cardiff City fans. The manager and the players need to hang their heads as they have blown not just a play off place but they could have had a crack at 2nd place. The fans have been let down big time.

When it came down to it Burnley and Preston got the job done and we fell apart.

Birmingham City join Wolves with automatic promotion and Sheff Utd, Reading, Burnley and Preston will contect the play offs.

Quite unbelieveable.

Oh the game today, three incidents to report on.

1. Just before half time City hit the post and saw the rebound cannon off a defender to safety.
2. Failure to clear a Wednesday attack efficiently allowed Jermain Johnson to volley in a cracking goal.
3. With a minute on the clock Wednesday's keeper was caught outside his box after a headed clearance and Roger Johnson, from 25 yards put the ball over the open goal.

The rest of the match was rubbish, lots of long ball, head tennis and poor passing. A rubbish 0 - 0 would have suited us. The rubbish 1 - 0 defeat certainly did not.

The season is over. 99 years of football at Ninian Park has ended on a sour note with the club capitulating and missing out on the play offs.

There are things to look forward to. Next season, new stadium. This season, the last two weeks excluded, we've improved and established ourselves as a decent Championship club.

Not getting promoted is not a problem, I can't quite believe we ever will. Falling apart like we did was just inexcusable and has left a bad taste. The fans were brilliant again today. As they have been all season. They deserved better.
