"Yes, it's a big season both for Jay Bothroyd and the team," he told the Echo. "I want to be playing at the highest level possible - and that goes for all the lads.
"We all want to get to the Premier with Cardiff City. I want to be the best player I can be."
Bothroyd has scored a few goals this pre season including the first goal from a City player in the new stadium. He followed that up with two goals last Saturday in Portugal.
"I've scored three goals in three games and I'm happy with that, but I want more," said Bothroyd.
"I am focused on playing well and keeping up a good strike-rate."
Bothroyd is likely to be first choice striker alongside Michael Chopra for the start of the new season. He will be hoping to improve on the 12 goals scored last season.
