Bothroyd boost as Jay hopes to be ready for Magpies

Bothroyd was subbed early doors at Doncaster on Saturday with City subsequently losing their gameplan and eventually the match.

The Chairman though is hopeful that Bothroyd will be fit sooner rather than later.

Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo: "We cannot take risks with this sort of injury and Jay is having a scan to make sure everything is okay.

"But the problem is not thought to be serious and we expect him to be fit for the Newcastle match."

Ross McCormack will still be out for a few weeks, so will Kevin McNaughton.
