Brave Bluebirds beaten by Bristol

It was backs to the wall for the remainder of the half and for the opening 15 mins of the second half. With Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink expected to do the work of two players upfront of his own City struggled to keep possesion but handled the Bristol pressure very well. Their best chance fell to Trundle who tested Kasper from 20 yards and apart from one low save Schmeichel watched all their other efforts go high and wide.

The Wurzel's goal came from a corner where City were under pressure. Kasper Schmeichel appeared to be severely impeded by three Bristol players but the biggest character on the pitch, Uriah Rennie waved away any hope of protecting the young keeper and the goal stood.

The game changed then. City came at Bristol more and were really unlucky not to get something from the game. The final stats show both sides had a similar amount of efforts on goal and in the dying seconds a goalmouth scramble nearly earned City a point and within the melee there was a strong claim for a penalty.

It was a midday start from Cardiff on oranised coaches. The journey to an industrial in Avonmouth was trouble free. Then a police escort to the ground. A few of the locals gave us some Nescafe handshakes but nothing more.
In the ground the there were more people having trouble with the death-trap seats than anything else. They should be ripped out. As the ground filled the atmosphere built and there was plenty of taunting.

City made a good noise as you'd expect. The atmosphere was charged and despite the sending off it was an entertaining derby.

The final whistle saw plenty of posturing and crowd swaying as the fans goaded each other. One Bristol City idiot jumped onto the pitch and offered himself to the away supporters. All he'll get for his one second of absurdness is a banning order.

30 mins or so after the final whistle we left in convoy taking the scenic route back to the M5. By 6.30 we were back in Cardiff.
Dissappointed obviously but proud of our efforts. I've not seen the challenge that got Thommo sent off (apart from 100 yards away), I understand his frustration when players shepperd the ball out of play, the defending team seem to get away with blatant obstruction, but you cannot clatter through the back of your opponent.

Onwards and upwards. Another game next Saturday which kicks off the Christmas period where City face four games in 11 days.
