Bring on the Rams. Derby preview

Last updated : 25 August 2003 By Michael Morris
On Saturday we were odds on to be beaten, this Monday we are odds on to win.

Let's be careful out there.

Derby County (circa Aug 2003) are not the Derby County (circa 2001). Since the heady days of the Premiership real life has hit home to Derby County. In todays talk they are a struggling 1st Div team, former manager John Gregory is suing them, current manager George Burley is trying to organise a new team.

Remember Ravanelli, Kinkladze, Burley, Carbonari, Delap, Seth Jonhson, Gudjonsson etc etc

nowadays their squad is very different

None of the names above are still there, the star name is Warren Barton, the former Newcastle player.

Derby have only 1 point from 9 so far, they have a superb stadium, i've been there, it's brilliant, but they are a post ITV digital team looking to re establish themsleves.

Ironically they have signed on loan Mathias Svensson. The striker that City were linked with but laughed at when it was revealed he's not scored for 2 years. He made his debut on Saturday and of course scored a goal, only problem was City's other potential summer targets, Shaun Goater and Scott Murray, had won the game for Reading.

Cardiff are now flying, Saturdays win has boosted everyone. There maybe squad changes after John Robinson limped off at the City Ground.

Todays game is live on Sky. 16,000+ expected at NP and many thousands more watching on TV.

If we play half as well as we did on Saturday then it will be a rout. Feet on the ground first, no complacency, just get the job done City. You know it makes sense.
