Bristol City v Cardiff City. Match preview

Last updated : 15 December 2007 By Michael Morris

Bristol City manager Gary Johnson refused to give anything away regarding his team selection ahead of Cardiff's visit to Ashton Gate.

Johnson had no fresh injury or suspension worries following the Robins' draw at Plymouth which extended their unbeaten league run to four matches.

Steve Brooker remains the only absentee, with the striker yet to play this season after he underwent a second knee operation in September.

Brooker is close to a return after scoring in each of his two comeback games for the reserves.

Much of the pre-match hype has centred around whether former Swansea striker Lee Trundle will be recalled.

Johnson said: "I won't be giving out my team but if I decide to pick Lee Trundle it will be because I think it is the right thing to do. But the lads who started at Plymouth played well and sometimes we try to keep the continuity."

Cardiff boss Dave Jones will choose from an unchanged squad for Saturday's trip.

Robbie Fowler was named among the substitutes in Tuesday's 1-0 win at Blackpool after recovering from a hip problem and could again be named in the 16-man squad.

Jones must decide whether to recall the former Liverpool striker or fellow fit-again forward Steve MacLean at the expense of Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink or the in-form Steve Thompson, who has netted three times in the last four games following his recovery from a groin problem.

Long-term absentee Riccardo Scimeca has returned to full training following a groin operation but the game comes too soon for the midfielder.

A knee injury will again rule former England winger Trevor Sinclair out of action as City go in search of a third straight Coca-Cola Championship victory.
