Burke cracks home the winner
City's task of holding onto their lead was made more difficult when Steve McPhail, starting the game instead of Gavin Rae, was red carded with over 10 mins to go.

There was to be no last minute leveller for the home side this time though as City saw the game out amidst a sea of bitten nails.

After losing the last two matches the victory tonight is a perfect tonic and set's up a cracking home game with Q.P.R. this Saturday at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Dave Jones dropped both his full backs for tonight's game but Adam Matthews big chance was runied wiuth an injury in the first half. Paul Quinn came on to replace him.

Referee Paul Taylor, the man who sent off two City players at the end of last season v Sheff Utd, gave McPhail his marching orders for a high footed tackle. Joe Ledley had earlier been booked in the 34th minute.

Ledley was subbed with Solomon Taiwo coming on for the final minutes. Gavin Rae had earlier come on for Michael Chopra as City looked to protect their lead.

The winning goal was set up by a Peter Whittingham cross. The ball came across to Burke who was able to control and rifle a high, right footed shot in to the goal in front of the City fans.

Well done City, and their 2,000+ tavelling fans.
