Cameron Rules Britannia. Match reaction

There's only one Jerome
If Stoke City never see Cameron Jerome again it'll be too soon for them.

City's young striker took his seasons tally to 8 from 11 games with two perfectly executed finishes after defence splitting passes from Joe Ledley.

City do well at the Britannia Stadium. In 6 visits we have won 4 times, drawn 1 and lost 1. The defeat came from the first visit in 2000 with the draw from the second visit in 2001. Since then we've won 2 - 1, 3 - 2, 3 - 1 and last nights 3 - 0.

Jerome's opening goal was text book. Ledley's pass inch perfect for Jerome to bear down on the keeper before slotting it past him. 2 mins later and Jerome was fouled wide left. From the free kick by Koumas, Darren Purse got the touch that guided the ball into the Stoke net.

City were solid in all departments and stuck to their game while Stoke could not manage to compose themselves and they looked vulnerable at all times.

In defence Loovens and Purse were superb and the midfield were all active in the game, the central players not afraid to get stuck in and as a result Stoke were totally unsettled and the number of misplaced passes and misfields would have had even the staunchest Stoke fan screaming at his team. City defended high up the pitch and Stoke could not cope with the pressure they were constantly under from our players.

The game was over just before half time when another Ledley pass found Jerome through on goal. This time he sold the keeper a dummy before rolling in provocatively into the Stoke net. The defender was in two minds if he could reach it but the weight of the shot was perfect and it rolled in the net to the disgust of the Stoke fans behind that goal.

For City fans it was a superb half of football.

After the break City just took the game in their stride. They pushed forward when the oportunity arose and went close from a Ricketts header and then sub Paul Parry fired a shot that was tipped wide before Alan Lee had three good chances. A stinging 20 yard strike was well saved by the keeper, a header went over and a third shot fizzed across goal and went wide.

Cameron Jerome was booked for diving as he went looking for a penalty. He seized on a poor back pass but his angles were out and he tried to beat the keeper out wide when maybe he should have just smacked it first time.

Stoke's best effort came from a free kick that caught the post but apart from that Alexander wasn't really tested that much with most of their other efforts high and wide. When Alexander was called on he did the job without fuss or panic. Crosses were caught and his handling was spot on.

The game still goes on but the Stoke fans have all gone home!
With 15 - 20 mins to go the home crowd started to leave the stadium. Those that were left were not happy at all when the City fans hi-jacked their anthem "Delilah" and sang it loud and proud. At one stage the City fans all went quiet to hear what Stoke was singing but there was just an eerie silence. I can appreciate the frustration of the home fans. Three defeats in a row at the Britannia conceding 9 goals. They were beaten 3 - 1 by Wolves on Saturday and then we arrived and took them for another three goals. Marvellous.

So we move upto 9th in the table and look forward to the visit of Luton on Saturday. 8 games unbeaten and four clean sheets in a row in the league. Well done Dave Jones and Cardiff City.
