Last updated : 14 August 2012 By Michael Morris

Malky Mackay is likely to run his second choice XI out at Northamtpton tonight. Several of the sqaud are on international duty playing games on Wednesday and of course City kick off their Championship camaign at CCS against Huddersfield on Friday.

I would expect a side comprising of Joe Lewis in goal, maybe Dekel Keinan in defence, Joe Ralls in midfield and a mix of youngsters and the odd experienced player in the line up. Malky used primararly a reserve side last season at this stage of the competition that saw City make the final at Wembley.

Craig Bellamy is with Wales and seven other players are on international duty.

David Marshall and midfielder Don Cowie (Scotland), Filip Kiss (Slovakia) and new striker Etien Velikonja (Slovenia).

Robert Earnshaw and Darcy Blake (Wales) and Aron Gunnarsson (Iceland).

kick off is at 7:45pm.
