Cardiff City booked their place in the third round of the EFL Cup with a convincing 3-0 win over struggling Cheltenham Town.
The League One leaders were too much for the Robins, who are bottom of League Two, and took a deserved early lead when Isaak Davies finished off a swift counter-attack after good work from Dakarai Mafico.
Yousef Salech saw an effort come off the crossbar and two more saved by former Bluebirds goalkeeper Joe Day, as Cardiff looked destined for a second goal.
The lead was eventually doubled when captain Calum Chambers flicked on Davies' corner kick at the near post on 32 minutes.
The Robins should have pulled one back when a slip from Chambers in the Cardiff box brought Lee Angol to the ground, but from the resulting penalty Angol's spot-kick was excellently tipped on to the post by Matt Turner.
Angol had the chance to make amends two minutes later when played through on goal, but his tame effort was indicative of a striker lacking confidence.
It was the same story in the second half, and Cardiff had a third when the Colwill brothers combined, Rubin afforded far too much time to pick a pass to Joel, who found the corner of the net against the team he spent last season on loan at.
Cheltenham almost pulled one back on the hour mark, but Ethon Archer was unfortunate to see his powerful effort come back off the bar.
Salech, Joel Colwill and substitute Chris Willock all had chances to extend the Bluebirds' lead, but the damage had already been done.
Cardiff progress to the third round for just the second time in 11 seasons, as their unbeaten run under head coach Brian Barry-Murphy continues.
The third-round draw takes place on Wednesday evening ahead of Grimsby Town's tie with Manchester United.
