Cardiff City claim Championship title

Malky Mackay's side only needed a point to be crowned champions in the early kick-off after already ensuring their promotion in midweek.

They looked all set to claim the title with a win when Craig Conway's first-half goal gave them control of the match but a 90th-minute David Edgar equaliser for Burnley stopped Cardiff from claiming the prize with their 11th away win of the season.

Conway admitted he will happily only score a few goals a season if they are all as vital as his second of the season.

"I should probably have scored more," Conway told Sky Sports 2.

"It's an important goal and it obviously gets us the winners' medal so I'm happy with that.

"I'll score two goals all season if it means I get to score one like that."

Conway also revealed what manager Mackay told his players after the final whistle had been blown and their passage to the top flight had been confirmed.

The Scot said: "He said we deserve it and to remember days like this as a lot of people go through their careers without winning anything. We are lucky enough to be part of it. It means so much to everyone to be a part of it.

"Obviously we got promoted on Tuesday and went out and had a night out after that so we've had to refocus and we wanted to go and win the league so I'm glad we've gone and done that. It's unbelievable. It's been a long season but it's great to win it with two games to spare."
