Cardiff City v Leicester City. Match Preview.

Last updated : 29 October 2004 By Matthew Gabb
Back to league action tomorrow with a home game against Leicester.

The Foxes have had a hard time of things so far after their relegation from the Premiership last term. There's been an awful lot of movement on the player front, but they will field a number of well known players in their side tomorrow - Dion Dublin, Matt Elliott and Nikos Dabizas amongst them.

The club parted company with Mickey Adams a couple of weeks ago, and have been managed in the meantime by Dave Bassett and Howard Wilkinson. All indications point to Hearts boss Craig Levein being appointed as their new manager some time in the next few days, with the BBC reporting that he will be at the match tomorrow (link here).

Leicester currently sit in 13th place with 19 points from 15 games, some five points ahead of us. As one of the pre-season favourites for promotion they will be looking to improve on that very soon.

City come into the game in good heart, with a win and three draws from our last four league games. Lennie Lawrence acknowledges though that we need to get some wins and points fast :

"It'll be a test for us. We've acquitted ourselves reasonably well on our travels, but we're still four off the bottom. We need to put some points on the board,"

Team news: Tony Vidmar starts a two match ban tomorrow after being sent off at Bournemouth in the week, so James Collins will deputise at centre back. On loan duo O'Neil and Williams will return to the side, and Joe Ledley will no doubt continue on the left.

My (probable) side for tomorrow 4-4-2:

Warner; Williams, Gabbidon, Collins, Barker; Macanuff, Kavanagh, O'Neil, Ledley; Thorne, Lee

Bench: Alexander, Weston, Boland, Parry, Jerome.

Tickets are still available from the club. www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk / call the ticket office on 0845 345 1400. Leicester will bring a decent following, so there should be a good atmosphere.

Come on City!
