Cardiff City youth lose Welsh Cup on pens

Newport won 4 - 2 on penalties.

City's youngsters just failed to hold onto their Welsh Youth Cup title when they were beaten on penalties at Ninian Park on Tuesday night.

Curtis McDonald gave City a 1 - 0 half time lead. He was set up by Jamal Easter who soon after lef the field with a knee injury, Kyle Bassett had earlier left the pitch with knee ligament damage making it an eventful first half for City.

Former City youngster Danny Brimfield scored two second half goals for Newport before Anthony Taylor levelled for City to take the match into extra time.

No goals came in the 30 mins and the match went to penalties.

Sean Cronin and Jamie Rewbury scored spot kicks for City but the Bluebirds missed three times.

Newport won the shoot out 4 - 2.
