Cardiff v Derby. Match preview

Last updated : 17 September 2004 By Michael Morris
Lie back, close your eyes and dream.

It's the end of the summer, autumn closing in. Your beloved football club is playing Derby County. That's right, Derby who not that long ago were in the Premiership, Cardiff were not that long ago a lower division team.

The game kicks off and as it flies by in your mind Cardiff score, then score again and again and again. The game finishes and City have four goals, Derby get one because you are a fair minded person. You allow them one goal.

Now open your eyes and look at this match report.

Just 12 months ago City gave Derby a good hiding at Ninian Park and how we need to do that again.

As much as we may moan and groan our ultimate need is to see City win.

Lennie has decided to continue with his role at CCFC despite a poor run of results (2 wins in 15 league games). If things go wrong on the pitch then I cannot see Lennie continuing. I'm amazed he's still in charge at the moment.

If they go right than maybe the addition to the coaching staff of Terry Burton has had an immediate effect. There is no let up in the number of games coming up. After Derby tomorrow we play MK Dons, Wolves and Burnley all away from home in 8 days. Then Leeds Utd at Ninian Park before the next round of international games.

Team preview to follow later today.
