The last action of 2005 for City takes place at Ninian Park with a clash between two teams who have not met in the league since 1978 and two teams who between them have managed just one goal in 9 hours of football. Southampton have lost their last three games, City have failed to score in their last three, two of those matches at Ninian Park.

For Dave Jones it's a match against his former employer Rupert Lowe. Southampton have Sir Clive Woodward no less as Director of Football. I wonder where the Grange End will tell him to shove his charriot. Saints new manager is George Burley. He's looking for his first win in charge.

The last time the team met in the league was in March 1978. Ray Bishop scored the only goal at Ninian Park. Saints won the encounter at the Dell earlier in the season with Keith Robson getting City's consolation in a 3 - 1 Boxing Day reverse.

Dave Jones has wanred he may have to draft in reserve players becuase of 4 or 5 senior players trying to overcome knocks ahead of the game. Rhs Weston missed the trip to Q.P.R through injury and may miss out again. Jones did not say who else was struggling.

Southamton have lost Dennis Wise after he quit the club after being overlooked for the managers position. They do they look like they may recall 16 year Theo Walcott. Saints have a huge injury list including keeper Antti Niemi who is trying to overcome a virus. He may be able to play but they will be without Claus Lundekvam, Michael Svensson, Danny Higginbotham, Matthew Oakley, Kamil Kosowski and Marian Pahars.

Southampton sit 4 points behind City in 14th place. Three points is a must for City to keep in touch with the play offs. Our poor run of just 4 points from the last 15 incredibly sees us just three points off 6th place.

Kick off today is at 1:00pm and there are cash turnstiles for the Bob Bank Terrace.
