Ceri Hughes to retire if he fails to win contract

Hughes has until the end of the month to convince City he is worth a contract. If he does not get the offer he said he will pack it all in.

Hughes does not travel to Scotland but instead stays behind and will play in two full reserve team friendlies.

Hughes has been plagued by injury in the last couple of seasons and feels his chance with City is his last.

"!If I don't sign for Cardiff City, I'll pack it all in. It's the last club I will play for. I really mean that." Hughes told the Echo.

Hughes played in the second half against Merthyr and helped set up Leo's goals near the end of the game. The player knows he is short of match fitness and hopes he can get fitter during the two games this week and get the reward of a contract.
