QPR's 1 - 0 win at Reading on Thursday started the weekend's Championship action.
The defeat cost Steve Clarke his job at Reading despite the club sitting 9th in the table, a place and a point above Cardiff.
On Friday night Middlesbrough won 2 - 0 at Ipswich to go top of the Championship. It mght be short lived as both Brighton and Derby could take top spot later today.
A win for Cardiff at Bolton today would guarantee a climb of at least three places in the table. Bolton have not won in the last 12 games and last week it was revealed that their players had not been paid.
Cardiff though have a habit of putting sub standard performances and losing to sides who are out of form and at the bottom of the table. Rotherham this season and Blackpool and Millwall last season are a few that spring to mind.
