Cheltenham v Cardiff City. Match preview

Last updated : 29 July 2004 By Michael Morris

City will rotate the squad with the 7 players who missed out of the starting line up at Yeovil expected to play and possibly John Robinson could be back. That means in will come Robert Earnshaw, Daniel Gabbidon and Tony Warner. Lee Bullock, Rhys Weston, Chris Barker and Alan Lee can also expect to start.

Lennie has three more games to shape his team ready for the new season that kicks of in less than 10 days time. After tonight’s game at Cheltenham City open up Ninian Park to Racing Santander on Saturday and Lazio on Monday.

Santander have had two 0 – 0 draws at Tranmere and Port Vale in the last week while Lazio have promised a strong squad as they prepare for City on Monday and Manchester City the following weekend.

So far City have lost at Chester and Hibs and earned a draw at Yeovil. It’s performances rather than results that matter at the moment and Lennie will have to get his back line working as a unit if we are to keep the goals out.

So get ready, we have 3 friendly games in 5 days then it’s the real thing at Crewe a week Saturday.
