A Cheshire police spokesperson said

"Cheshire Police will be working closely with colleagues from elsewhere in order to ensure the early identification and containment of known trouble-makers."

Inspector Jeff Crewe added

"The Railwaymen, as they are locally known, have a significant following in the Crewe community.

"Many of those who come to enjoy the matches are families who bring children with them.

"My aim is to ensure that supporters of either team, who arrive with their tickets to enjoy an afternoon's sporting entertainment, do not have their enjoyment marred by the behaviour of a minority who set out only to disrupt.

"Any such behaviour will be dealt with very firmly by the officers policing the event."

The police will be have extra officers on duty in the twon, en route to the town and they will be working closely with transport police and officres from South Wales as well. Cardiff City fans have approx 1600 tickets, if the promotion issue is not settled or even if it is, it's feared many more fans will attempt to get to the ground without tickets. The message from the police is clear.

Stay away if you do not have a ticket.
